Yvan Rucogoza

Yvan is a handsome boy born in 2009 and lives with both parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters in a one bedroom mud house. His father is a night guard (security) and his mother works cleaning the streets. Yvan’s parents didn’t have good education growing up and that’s why it’s hard for them to find consistent work. He does have a stable family life, which is great, and his both parents share the load in the family equally.

Yvan is now advancing through primary school with the support of Hope Shines. He likes to study and his favorite subject is English. Thanks to the after-school program at Hope Shines and his dedication to learning, Yvan’s English speaking skills have improved tremendously. Yvan likes to make friends and loves to play with them. During his free time, he likes to tell funny and entertaining stories to his friends and the Hope Shines staff. Yvan’s favorite sport is Kung Fu and when he grows up, he wants to become the president of Rwanda!
